We built one in 88. 3 sided, dug into the corner of a sloping field. All the dirt removed was piled along the sides and one end. Once a few hundred tons was in the end we were able to drive over the end wall and over the silage.

My dad built one like that in the late 60's. It was wide enough to drive in and turn around to fill for a while and then they would dump off the end and side walls until it was full enough to drive across. I got to run the chopper while he was the leveler and packer.
