Wisconsin | Lead is highly recycled, don't think there is any primary lead smelting left in the US. I'm not sure on the metalurgy if lead can be purified or not, or how to tell who's using virgin lead.
I do know that the cheap ones have been doing fine until abused, if you're averaging five years, you're abusing batteries, or else running so much that the cost of batteries shouldn't be a factor. The most common way to abuse batteries is to let them drain down slowly over time, but it's not the only possible way to abuse them. | |
