Aluminum? To me it looks like something broken off an internal drum/shell. Are there any wear marks along the lugs? Those typically run lengthways for clutches or steels to engage onto. If no wear marks it may be breaking apart beyond a slot for a snap ring that holds clutch pack together (clutches/steels would slide over that part of rib during assembly, but final position farther down below snap ring).
