I used a flat machinist file first to come pretty close, then I used some 3000 grit polisher pads, then 5000 like you use to polish paint out. the file didn't seem to touch the chrome.
I worked quite a while with an old tooth brush and cleaner to get the crevis's super clean. the cracks all had a sharp ledge all around these areas so there was no epoxy in a super thin zone.
