| Had a 379 with higher gears can’t remember exactly but was around 3.50ratio. . It was a fantastic setup with the 13 speed. Had some trouble with the rear ends and the local diesel shop talked me into “farm” gear ratios. 4.00 or something. The truck went from being nice to drive down the hwy to listing to the engine rev at 1700 just to go anywhere I sold it shortly after.
I like a go home gear in a grain truck.
I bought a Volvo auto a few years back with 2.64. In 11th gear at hwy speeds it is right at 1500. Empty in 12th gear is around 1200rpm at 70mph with good MPG. | |
