Subject: John Deere 410J outrigger leaks down

Central Minnesota

Right side stabilizer arm leaks down.  Way too fast its so almost dangerous. I think the leak maybe is in the spool as the cylinder holds good in the down/using position.   Would like to verify the cylinder isn't leaking internally before starting work on the spool.   If I let the outrigger down until the cylinder is flat and then support it with blocks or a jack,  then take hoses off and plug the fittings, then take blocks out.    If the internal seal is bad will the oil just go from one side of cylinder tube to the other and then settle down?   If holds steady then the spool needs work?

Anyone replace or rebuilt spool valves in these machines?   We have pilot controls for backhoe, but I think the stabilizers are just a spool valve type.
