Jackson County, AL | We ran a 630FD with single drive up until last year. Never really had an issue breaking blades on it any more than on the 635FD that ran with it but if crossing bean rows at a 90 degree angle to the rows it would try to stall, slip, and generally make a racket. Just had to slow down a little but crossing rows in continuous no-till usually required slowing down anyway. Wasn't a big enough issue to want to convert it over and on anything bigger than 30' I'd say would be a requirement. A lot of MacDons bigger than 30' don't have double drive and people seem to do just fine with them but if I were looking I know I'd try to get the dual drive on a 35' and larger. |
