| Your best, & cheapest, option would be to covert your auger to pto drive if you have a tractor available unless there’s a specific reason you need an electric. Assuming your current motor is fairly new you could find an older 15hp 1ph motor. It will have a higher load amperage rating. We have two 15hp 1ph motors, older one is rated at 72amod, newer one @ 60 amps. Bought the older one as a backup for the newer one but it’s the main motor as it will move more grain. Electrician says it’s equivalent of a new 20hp motor
Another option is possibly go with a 2 motor setup. Will take a little fabrication but I’ve seen it done.
Phase converter is another possibility if you have the electrical capacity to feed the 3fd leg. We put in a phase converter this summer & switched out our 15hp 1ph with a 30hp 3 ph but had to “rob” power from one of our tool sheds to supply the 3rd leg. You’ll need a phase converter 2x of the motor you want to run. As said they’re not cheap but a lot cheaper than bringing in 3 ph. | |
