Depends on who's eggs you get. Low protein feed will make birds lay smaller eggs. Protein is a more expensive ingredient than say corn in chicken grain.

We sell free range eggs and I have a hard job fitting my eggs in regular egg boxes. We can also crack one of our eggs into a pan then reach in a take out the yolk, then pass it from one hand to the other without breaking it.

A good way to tell how fresh your eggs are is to put an unbroken egg into water. If the egg sets on the bottom on the pan on it's side it is very fresh. The older the egg gets the larger the air sack in the egg gets and one end will start to come up. If the egg is floating it should be thrown.
