Colorado and Oz | I guess Skype is somewhat of a mystery to aggies? The $25/year is only for computer to phones calling. Computer to computer is free!
And even at medium speed ADSL (256-512kb) you can even conduct video calls. I use Skype on essentially all my international calls and it does just fine... startling well. Its also suggestive that phone numbers will in the not too distant future be simply proxies for IP addresses?
To make Skype useful all you need is a reasonable speed broadband connection, a headphone with microphone, and the freely downloaded Skype software. Log on and create a unique user name, share that with other Skype'ers, and allow them to link. There after you can see when one of your shared callers are on line then simply click on their name and wait for the ring and answer. You can also "chat" and have group calls via Skype as well. Pretty darned near fool-proof IMHO.
