Subject: Re: Help with pears

Ontario, Canada

I have 4 pear trees and last year I had to toss many of them because we couldn't eat them all. I made a few pear crisps (similar to apple crisp) and no one could tell it was pears and not apple! Let me know if you'd like my pear crisp recipe.

I was thinking of jarring the pears because I love jarred pears but when I do the math it doesn't add up. It will cost a small fortune just to buy all the supplies, plus the time/labour involved to cook pick, peel, core, dice, boil, etc when for 99 cents I can buy canned pears at the store. It is very frustrating that the pears I buy come from South Africa and I have pears 30 feet from the house rotting on the ground. *sigh*
