For something a bit more like candy, instead of the spices and onions and peppers, my wife uses plain old ketchup, cheddar cheese, and a lot of brown sugar. Not sure of the proportions. She probably doesn't even know. She mixes the stuff with her hands and keeps adding till it feels right. I think she might use saltines instead of oatmeal.
