Subject: RE: Auto Steer for IH 1486

In my opinion, planting corn with an EZ Steer and cheap GPS signal would not work well enough for my customers. Beans, probably, but if you are dropping a marker for corn, I'd bet the EZ steer would be off far enough you'll be dragging it back to line up with you mark.

Now, if you upgraded the GPS signal, it could work well enough...either an OmniStar type signal on their older systems, or the RTX stuff in the newer signals.

The GFX-350 and Nav500 bundle you can pair with an EZ Steer for very affordable steering, and get their ViewPoint RTX correction which should get you roughly 6" accuracy pass to pass...that's the minimum I would want to try and plant Corn, but I'll also say most of my customers won't do Corn without a 2-4" correction.

At the end of the day, an EZ steer on a 2wd 1486 is only going to steer so good in mellow ground planting
