Lapel, In | Glad to see someone else knows the value of using lard in a pie crust. Its what makes a crust, flaky. I believe the formula (can't spell receipe) I use calls for a full cup of lard and not so much butter.Don't think it calls for BP or sugar though. Lard is getting hard to find in this preppy,soccer mom area.
Gotta find that formula. Have some black raspberries in the freezer calling my name. One slice of that with a little ice cream about 2 hours before bed and the old blood sugar will be 87 in the A.M. Its medicinal, ya know. Cherry pie also works as does about any fruit.
Anybody ever make Elderberry pie ? Crop looks to be huge. Dad once said it was good for pies. | |
