Did you soak the corn in water first ?   husk on or off?   I've done both ways and if husk off I slather on butter then wrap tight in tinfoil. It's awful easy to 'overdo' the corn on a grill, depending on heat level of course.

I try and watch "BBQ University" every chance I get.  That guy's got a million ways of cooking different stuff on a grill.  I've done chicken on a grill, used the top grate,, wrapped in foil, cooked  low n' slow, with plenty of home made glazing.. 

Ate the entire chicken at one meal.....
