Ed, what you have said about getting 3-phase equipment cheaply is oh so very, very true. I've seen commercial welders, lathes, drill presses, heaters, air compressors, power washers, you name it go for literally $0.10 on a dollar list to $0.25/dollar list on eBay and other sources. The only reason I can find in common among all these cheap pieces of commercial equipment is that small shops don't have three phase power, so they're not bidding on the equipment.

I'd love to install 3-ph power here, but I just cannot justify the cost, not with all the other money I've been burying into this outfit. I'll just have to muddle along with our diesel-powered Miller Trailblazer and an old Lincoln AC buzz-box.
