Missouri Botanical Garden in the Shaw neighborhood is fantastic. While at the zoo, check out the other Forest Park attractions like the Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, Take a boat ride and enjoy a meal after the zoo at the boathouse just east of the zoo. If casual Al Fresco dining is your thing, just go east of Forest Park about 3 blocks to Maryland Ave. and head North. There are about 6 blocks of great places there that will remind you of NYC or Chicago summer dining. Also in that area is St. Louis Cathedral. Well worth a look. For a walk on the hipper side check out the University City Loop or U - City Loop to locals. Lots of great places there and neat for just a walk. In that area, the Fitz's root beer plant and eatery is great for the kids. Have fun! If you want to stop by the tree farm give me a yell. You will pass by within 5 miles on I-70.
