Cottonwood burns fine in a stove. True it will burn fast and it does burn hot, But,, you can control the burn rate I assume in the wood stove.

Older neighbor/friend heated his home with a wood stove, he hated central heat,," just doesn't feel as warm,,".  so I cut up-hauled-stacked alot of cords of old cotton wood for him. He loved the cottonwood for burning in his woodstove,, great heat, not alot of ash (according to him) and he used his woodstove every winter right up to the year he died. He was well into his 80's and lived by himself in his own home,, and he chased more women into his early 80's than most college age guys,, and he caught them too !!
