TD15 - 8/6/2009 20:41 I have been cutting up a old cottowood tree the last couple of nights ,that fell in the wheat field . It seems kind of soft like a willow. I plan on using the wood for shop heat. I hope I'm not wasting my time. Does anyone have any experiance burning this stuff ?

I had a guy ask permission to cut down a large Scotch Pine that had died.  I jumped at the chance to get it removed before it fell into crops, and he cut it up for firewood.  He said the next year he almost burned down his shop, the old stove got red hot, and almost melted down.

Sycamore doesn't have all that resin, so would not be that bed, but it would burn in a flash.  Only thing we used to use Sycamore for was roofing, really holds a nail well if it is kept dry.  Will rot quickly if it gets wet.
