Subject: How well does cottonwood burn?

I have been cutting up a old cottowood tree the last couple of nights ,that fell in the wheat field . It seems kind of soft like a willow. I plan on using the wood for shop heat. I hope I'm not wasting my time. Does anyone have any experiance burning this stuff ?
