Gilroy 35 Miles Over the Hill From Santa Cruz
Savage - 8/6/2009 18:41

Fresno/Tulare area - lots of different crops

Take Hwy 180 east and go up to see some giant redwoods - they'll take your breath away if you've never seen one before.

If you've got a good "roller coaster" stomach, grab Hwy 198  back to Visalia - beautiful drive, but more twists and turns and up/downs than any other road I've been on.

Yosemite is to the north a bit with beautiful waterfalls and rock stuff.

Coastal Highway is fantastic going south from San Francisco.  You'll be stopped to look as much as your driving so you'll need plenty of time for that segment.

Just a couple ideas..............

Update:  Ok, a few more ideas.....

San Francisco has Alcatraz, Pier 39 (I think that's the one), trolley cars that are fun

Monterey is a must stop - the aquarium.

The above actives are reasonably Priced - so is the Napa Valley Wine Tasting - There is also a "Napa Valley Wine Dinner Train" that is Pricy - don't over look Santa Cruz and Hurst Castle - Its hard to make plans for someone else - Yosemite is a must - I can post Photo if you want.

There is so much to see with-in 400 miles of SF
