Central IL | Need to get a new roof installed by next spring and roofer said our 1880's farmhouse has sagging rafters.
Said he can install onto it like it is but he recommended jacking the rafters once a month very little at a time so as not to crack them.
Anyone heard of this? Is there an actual rafter jack that I should buy a bunch of?
He kinda mentioned something that you just give a 1/4 turn once a month and that's all that's needed over time but I can't seem to find what that would be.
Saw some videos of someone just forcing a newer house roof but this old house may not like to be touched as roughly.
