My parents shipped me at early age to "help my grandparents" at a early age. One reason was to yes help them, second was I was the type of kid that needed more "busy".
I thank my grandparents for taking me in the summers. I was given responsibilities that a lot of 60 year olds never got from their parents. I was given farm checkbook as soon as I was legal to drive, and told to go to town and purchase irrigation supplies, piping etc. As I was the person using and keeping irrigation going.
You can't coddle this kids, they need to pushed to the wolves a little bit. Learn they can function on thier own. |
