Subject: RE: email security

Central Nebraska

Use a reputable email service.  Enable any multifactor login options they have.  They are a pain in the rear but make unauthorized access exponentially more difficult.  Utilize spam filters and malware scanning services.  Last, but most likely the most important, be very careful about what links you click on in an email.

The term hacking is very often misused.  Hackers are usually lazy and will not spend time trying to brute force their way into something.  Instead, they will imitate or pretend to be someone or something they are not and have you do the hard work for them.  Its called social engineering, spoofing, phishing, etc.  Remember this, if the info you have to enter into a form is for something secure try not to enter it into something that was accessed from an email link.  Go directly to the providers web page (using their URL) and log in from there.
