Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Most TruCount clutches go on the left side, White's go on the right side. So yes, the rotation is opposite for a White. I believe all that is needed is to flip the spring over to go from one style to the other. Since it is a wrap around design, the spring will wrap tightly and grip the shaft in one rotation but slip in the opposite direction or when held to "unwind a bit" by the air plunger.
I had them on a Deere which was on the left side. When I disassembled them each year to clean them, I kept one off to the side for a pattern. I would disassemble a clutch clean it and reassemble, I would then test it by trying to turn one direction and then the other. It should slip one way but grab the other. I would compare the one I had just reassembled against the pattern I had set aside. If the one I just reassembled worked like the pattern, then I knew I had assembled it correctly since it was possible to flip the spring over accidently.
