Bloomington and Putnam IL | Started at 200# and hard to walk more than a block or two due to a high school knee injury. Slowly lost 50 pounds. Still amazes me how much grief I take from my over weight relatives and friends (who are having knees and misc. body parts replaced) who constantly lecture me about how hard running is on joints. I'm not the MD in the house (my wife did run 4 with me this morning), but eating cookies is a lot harder on my bum knee than running a sub 23 minute 5K. Guess which of of my buddies was the slowest Sunday ( 5 of the top 14 overall were in my age group, 55 to 59)? Yep the 60 year old with the hand full of post race rolls and cookies.
