Jeffersonville, OH | 1000* post turbo is pretty hot. Aluminum starts to melt at 1300-1400* depending on alloy.
I have always been told 900* post turbo, and 1200* pre turbo for hard pulling. Lower is always better obviously, but for sustained temperatures, I have always used those for my limits.
Depending on turbo configuration (one or two, sizing, etc) on engines I have played with over the years watching per and post turbo temperatures both, you may see a 200* difference, or you may see 4-500* difference. Lots of variables, but I would say 2-300* difference from pre-turbo to post is fairly consistent.
