Subject: RE: Dealer auctions

north central Iowa, Hampton
auctions are clean ways to just get a piece of equipment moved.

Most dealers expect a certain amount of after-sale issues. The starter quit, a cylinder failed, this pump is not pumping. On a regular sale, it's possible to build in a cushion to help cover some of those unexpected things.

Once you start negotiating the price down to rock bottom, even if everyone writes "as-is where-is" and "no warranties" on the sale bill, when something goes wrong and the customer complains, at times the dealership ends up eating repairs they didn't budget for.

Auctions are much more clean cut--here's the machine. We've been paid and it's yours. Don't expect dealership support--you bought it cheap in an auction setting.
