Subject: RE: Dump pit Building

SW Illinois
If I remember correctly, our pit is 12’x24’ and the building extends about 2 feet past each end of the pit. Our doors are 14’x16’. If we did it again, the doors would be 16’ wide. Occasionally, we’d like to be able to pull our grain cart in to load specific weight on it from the load out spout. Otherwise, the doors are wide enough to be comfortable to pull semis through. They’re tall enough to dump a 34’ frameless trailer if you park at the end of the pit.

A few things have changed since the picture was taken when the pit and building were new 3 years ago. We poured concrete approaches on each end of the building after the rock settled. We also enclosed the basement stairs to eliminate all the dust that went down there for the first year. Since then, there’s very little I would change about how we did it.
