Subject: Farm Trailer Dock Height

SW “Ohia”

I have a natural spot on the farm where I could cut a shoulder in an existing slope and make a really nice dock.

What height should it be, and how wide for general use?

I’d mainly like to be able to load/unload equipment being trucked, which it seems most ag stuff moves on a step deck. I have an aluminum forklift dock ramp and some heavy trailer ramps; if I build it for step deck height would I be able to handle flatbed or enclosed trailers using those to bridge the difference? A forklift is in the future plans, currently use a skid steer or loader tractor for pallet deliveries and ramps for equipment.

At work we have dock levelers on all of our bays so I’m spoiled with that ability.
