Subject: RE: Radiant heat tube at 45 degree angle

Nw Iowa
We have had tube heat for probably over 30 years.. when we built our new shop 60x80 25 years ago we moved the 1 heater from old shop. Anyway after about 15 years 1 heater was giving us trouble and we ordered a new head and the guy I have bought them from delivered the new head. My comment was that we really didn’t need the second heater as with just 1, shop was warm. He explained that if heater was running all the time, that you weren’t really being efficient. By running all the time, you were blowing more heat thru the tube and losing affect of tube radiating heat, even when heater wasn’t running. So two heaters were more efficient because you had twice as many tubes radiating and running less than half as much. So back to OP, I disagree with your guy and the 24’ distance as heater that failed was in the middle and one that was working was in the corner aimed at 45 degrees out and we really didn’t notice any difference. Shop was still warm to other wall.
