Iowa | It has been a long time since working on an 853 Bobcat, but if you raise cab, the hydraulic pump is bolted to end of hydrostat. I would suspect that the pop you heard was the pump shaft broke where it splines to hydrostat unit. I don't think you can have cab raised and start engine without having remote start keyswitch(special tool from Bobcat) to check for oil flow by loosening output hydraulic hose to check for pressure.
