I have two Sthil chain saws that get VERY occasional use, plus a BG 55 blower and a ??55 string trimmer. One saw is an 031AV the other is an 021. All have to be pulled a few times when cold but usually one or two pulls when warm. I did have an electronic ignition installed in the 031 a few years ago. No longer have to dress up the points. Bosch spark plugs in everything. Spark arresters have been removed from the newer stuff. Solved a lot of problems. I run regular gas in everything with the Stihl synthetic oil. I use the two gallon bottle to treat one and a half gallons of gas. Spark plugs are cheaper than engines. My stuff always starts. If it doesn't start I fix what is wrong. Usually it is a spark plug or stale gas problem. The blower and trimmer get used weekly during the grass growing season.

If it idles but won't open up take the spark arrester out and throw it as far from you as possible. Those things are a joke.
