June 1982, Ravenna Texas. Seems like I remember gas being around 35 cents a gallon but I may be wrong.  I was 16 and had just arrived in Texas. Man it was hot!! My Dad had a 79 Ford with a 351 Cleveland engine. That thing did like gas for sure!
1984/85 gas was around 99 cents or so. I remember driving from Lazbuddie Tx to Texarkana ( to see a girl) and filling my pickup for 99 cents a gallon.
1983 we bought a brand new IH 1086. One of the last ones built that had never been sold. We bought it fairly cheap.  We had looked at a 4450 or 4650 but Deere wanted an arm and a leg for those. Bought the 1086 for about half of what they wanted for one of them green ones and it turned out to be a very good tractor. Never once gave any trouble in the 5400 hrs we put on it in 4 years.
