Monroe City, MO | Years ago, sometime in the 50's, the agricultural education building burnt to the ground in Monroe City. The cause was an electrical spark caused by striking a bad with an arc welder. There was a plan of gasoline sitting on the floor somewhere in the building. Supposedly the fumes from the pan ignited by the welder set the entire building ablaze. Four young men died that day in the fire. The teacher probably never forgave himself even though it was probably a pretty common pratice.
I have a rule, no gasoline in shop if welding. | |
