Slag and scale on top off a plastic gas tank is probably bigger issue……
^^^^^^ Yep! This is the main concern. If a hot molten marble pops and lands on top of the tank, you could melt thru and go BOOM!
The main concern would be that a hole would be melted thru the tank. Not that the tank will go boom. Some people are dramatic.
