Subject: RE: Coyote hunting dogs and landowner rights

west central Iowa
When I was in junior high we had hounds spook a pot load of 400 pound bawling calves and it took a week to round them up. My brother put 500 miles on his motorcycle looking for them and chasing. A couple years later I heard hounds out in the stalks where we had cattle running, I got my Dad and my shotgun and we went out there. We heard the hounds in a creek and hollered and no one answered. I fired the shotgun in the air and then the guys came out of the creek yelling and accusing us of shooting their dogs. The dogs ran to us and I caught and held them. The two hunters got to us and I handed the dogs to them and they were still yelling and threatening until my Dad said something about calling the father of one of them. By that time the dogs were loose again and running away and seemed scared of the owners, we heard later the dogs were mistreated. A year later I was threatened with a beating by one of them.
