Subject: RE: How many people do you know are the perfect magazine farmers?

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
I knew one farmer a little like the perfect farmer. Great guy although a lot of locals didn't particularly like him. Probably jealous. He bailed out of farming 10 years ago when prices got high at the age of 55. Somewhat from labor issues...couldn't find good help. Had one key employee commit suicide.
I know he didn't quit from financial issues but I often wonder if there was more going on than we know about. He did tell me his kids had no interest in the farm and they were in high school at the time. So he didn't see a reason to keep going. He has since sold most of the farm and moved 250 miles away. His wife really didn't care for the area.
Like a poster above mentioned. Things may have not as been as good as they appeared from outside.
