To answer Ron NE Ill yes.
In regard to less farm ground will equal higher commodity prices, true but it will only benefit those still farming. In the article as Mr. Mendenhall says reducing farmable acres will drive up rents. The farmer that is taking 4000 acres out of production certainly is going to replace it with someone else's 4000 acres. Maybe that's no big deal when it is not in your backyard. I am nearing the twilight of my farming days with no heirs that will farm so it won't impact me much longer, but it will some young person that want's to do what I have been fortunate to have done.
