The Twin Cities and Duluth metro transit buses experience a 40% to 60% decrease in range during the winter months. Retro fitting the electric buses with diesel powered cabin heaters helped, but there is still a significant loss of range when the weather gets cold. The electric buses also cost over a million dollars each, which is over twice as much as a diesel or NG powered bus.
