| cattleman4430 - 12/1/2022 21:11 I'm a mechanic by trade and a farmer. I very rarely hire anything fixed/welded (my pickups tend to go to a local shop because they charge less than I do, and I'd rather keep up on customer work than work on a pickup). That being said, I hire an independent agronomist to scout my fields a 2 or 3 times a year. I'm an ok agronomist but not perfect, I know when to hire an expert. The same goes for guys who are expert agronomists but don't know how to hold a wrench. Everyone has their strengths, and their weaknesses, and sometimes you need to let someone help you. There aren't enough hours in the day to do everything yourself if you're farming more than a couple hundred acres(It took me a lot of years to finally learn this.)
Very intelligent post. Build on the things you are good at, and divest some of the others. |
