It depends. If you buy new, under warranty. You could get by with ability to change oils, fluid, filters.
I have been hiring more repairs I could/have done. Hoses under cab. Brakes on pickup…
Welding. There are jobs I will take in to a expert. I do prep work, line stuff up…. But honestly. Local guy does a better, has stronger welds then I get. At least 3x a year I bring something in.
But if I call, he often gets right to it. “It’s ready, it would take me longer to move it after you leave it then do it”. So 15 minutes after arriving, I am often ready to leave. And price is normally very reasonable. No lifting, wrestling.. rarely a bolt to remove.
Even when he was recovering, on lite work. “If it’s your normal. Bring it in”
