More than likely it's the impact plates. Have someone lightly tap on each one while you watch the monitor. You should see the monitor react to the taps. If no reaction replace the faulty plate.
The pads could be a possible problem but the wiring flexing bending back and forth where it goes from the machine to the pad has a bad habit of failure. Every time that chaffer moves back and forth it flexes those wires and they break inside their outside coating.


+1. Impact plates do go bad for sure. But the wiring going to them literally flexes 1000's of times every day. It's a wonder they last half as long as they do.

The wiring is a special type of wire. If it wasn't, it wouldn't last long at all.
