Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | Check state load laws. I went with a 42’ over a 40’ to legally weigh, I think, 3,000 pounds more. Very little difference in price. Not a noticeable difference to maneuver.
I go with the slanted ends. Same price as square ends. 600 pounds less weight. 4’ less tarp. No shelf on ends to watch when loading. Easier to climb up the slanted ladder on the ends.
I’d go new if you plan to have them a long time. Used just isn’t enough cheaper right now anyway.
I like 72” sides over 66”. On windy days we can fill from end to end and keep the grain under the edge of the trailer and have pretty much a full load. We don’t drive a long ways in those conditions but we can get by. My drivers are nervous about rolling the electric tarps in the wind. |
