I personally never had much luck or cared for using the tape but a lot of people like it. I think it is slightly oversized so you use a knife or plane to get it flush to edge. I always liked using wooden strips that I cut myself sometimes of a totally different wood for contrast sometimes the same. I think the tape for under drawers should work but I always used beeswax.
