Subject: Woodworking questions

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
I am trying to expand my horizons, first attempt to make a storage cabinet with drawers for shop. I got the cabinet carcass constructed with 3/4 inch baltic birch plywood. Next thing on the learning curve is using iron on veneer edging (or whatever you call that stuff) and fabricating and installing wooden cleats for drawer slides. What kind of wood is suggested for the drawer slides ( don't need highest quality or price available, but would like to do it correctly with something other than pine) ? Any tips for ironing on the veneer tape? Anyone use that UHMW tape for the bottom of the drawers to make them slide easier? I have watched several You Tubes about constructing the drawers themselves, think i can handle that. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA, Bruce.
