Floyd County, Iowa | A friend of mine gave me 3 ropes his boy used for rodeo calf roping. He was going to throw them away when he moved to Florida, so I took them off his hands.
They're almost as stiff as #9 wire (seems like, anyway). Are rodeo ropes all like that?
They have rawhide sewn in the hondo for wear, I assume.
I've seen calf roping on tv, and the ropes looked a little stiff in their hands, but they throw them fast enough that I can't really see it. I tried throwing these a few times, just to see how they tossed, but I ain't a cowboy by any stretch of the imagination (I just have some boots and a beat up hat).
I just wondered about the stiffness part.
