One of mine is still hung up on a major update it first wanted to do 18 months ago it must have tried about 20 times but always rolls back. I think it's an obscure driver to do with audio effects the sound still works but some of the associated software is possibly not compatible from a now defunct company and stops it every time. Have been through all the things I can find online but even full refresh of windows doesn't work. It might re-install correctly if I fully formatted the drive only I did that once and it decided the Windows copy was not validated or whatever word they use. Anyway I had made a full backup to external drive and got back to the initial problem. It is still usable but gets increasingly strident at need to update which it tries yet again and fails. There are some things worth trying involving clearing any updates sat waiting and doing it in safe mode but nothing works with mine I even tried full upgrade to Windows 11 but that failed too at last minute and reverted. |
