Maybe if they stayed out of it and let the free market correct itself? That would be a novel idea. They should be the law enforcement arm of commerce, but not the administration of same.
So far the government has done very little in enforcement of fair commerce with health care providers. We still don't usually know what the charge is going to be for a procedure until we get the bill. Seems like fair commerce would include being able to compare prices with different providers for the same service, lots of talk about this from the officials but very little action.
I don't have all the answers either, but there has to be better alternative to what is going on with health care now. We have the most expensive health care system in the world, but far from the best care.
