Floyd County, Iowa | You are completely missing the point. The gov't involvement increases the cost by simply being involved, via the waste. Instead of doing something to actually keep costs down, they just print more money to cover it.
And, no, I don't have an answer to what, if anything, they should do but simply throwing more money in the mix only fuels the inflated prices.
Maybe if they stayed out of it and let the free market correct itself? That would be a novel idea. They should be the law enforcement arm of commerce, but not the administration of same.
Seems like everyone wants the gov't to do everything for them now, as long as everyone else pays for it in the form of taxes to cover those subsidies.
